Online Gambling Bonuses

There are many different types of online gambling bonuses offered to players.  We’ll tell you what they are and illustrate each type of bonus with an example:

MATCH BONUSES – the most common type of bonus usually offered by online casinos.  This is a percentage-based match, which requires that a player makes a deposit first in order to receive free money.  The casino matches a certain percentage of the player’s deposit.

Examples:

50% match bonus – a player would receive an additional 50% added to his bankroll when he makes a deposit at the casino.  If I were to deposit $1000 and the bonus was a 50% match bonus up to $500 free, then this would mean the casino would give me an extra $500 for free.  My initial bankroll would therefore be $1500 to play with.

100% match bonus – this is the most common type of match bonus that online casinos give their customers.  The structure is such that a player would receive an additional 100% bonus that is added to the value of his initial deposit.  Let’s say that the bonus in question was a 100% match bonus up to $200 free.  If I were to make an initial deposit of $100, I would get $100 free.  If I were to make a $200 deposit, I would get $200 free.  However, if I were to make a $300 deposit, I would still only get $200 free since that’s where the casino’s match was capped at.

200% match or higher bonuses – because of the higher risks associated with giving players bonuses that exceed 100% of their own deposits, these types of bonuses are less common.   If you do run into an online casino that does offer bonuses of 150% or higher, make sure to read the casino’s wagering requirements and terms and conditions carefully, since these may be on the strict side.

NO DEPOSIT BONUSES – somewhat rare, “no deposit” bonuses don’t require you to make a deposit prior to playing for real money. Usually, to claim these bonuses, you would simply download the casino software, install it, register a real money account, and redeem a coupon code to receive the bonus.

Taking advantage of an online gambling bonus is one of the best ways for a player new to an online gambling site to build their bank rolls. These bonuses are offered by the casino rooms to entice players to join and to keep the chips moving around the tables. An online casino bonus can often double a new player’s starting amount!

Reload bonuses: bonuses paid on further deposits after the first, to reward players for continuing to support the site. Depending on the site, this could be anywhere from 5 or 10% all the way to 50% or more!

So remember, whether you’re game of choice happens to be slots, poker or blackjack, you’ll find an online casino that caters to those needs, along with some great bonus offerings if you know where and how to look.

STICK A FORK IN RIVAL GAMING
March 11, 2010

Rival Gaming has just announced an exciting new five reel, twenty payline online slot game, and its packs a nostalgic punch. Candy Cottage is inspired by the Hansel and Gretel story book tale, which goes to show you how on it Rival Gaming truly is. This particular Brothers Grimm fairy tale is probably one of the world’s most famous cautionary tales. Personally, I think this story is responsible for obesity and bulimia in the US – but I digress…

The game starts off with a clip of our pudgy siblings strolling through the forest just mindin’ their own business when suddenly, they encounter the Candy Cottage. Can it be true? Are those shingles really edible? They try to find out, only to a rather hungry witch, who rather be munching on babyfingers rather than ladyfingers.

The game symbols do justice to the Hansel and Gretel / candy motif admirably. Players will find vivid and sharply drawn Bread Baskets, Ducks, Chocolates, Sweets, Candy, Jelly Beans and – of course – the slow moving yet resourceful brother and sister team, Hansel and Gretel. Oh, and then there’s the wicked Witch, of course. And what H&G story would be complete without that classic prop, the hot and fiery Furnace? Here, the Furnace slot takes center stage, operating as this online slot’s expanding wild symbol.

Some other icons include the Candy Cottage symbol that activates 10 free spins enhanced with a 3 times multiplier. In addition, the Cage icon triggers a bonus round should you land three or more. You’ll be taken to a second screen where you’ll find that the witch wants to fatten Hansel (you) up. She throws candy in the air, and it’s your job to move Hansel around the screen so that he crams as many of the pieces of goodies in his piehole as possible. The candies swallowed by Hansel are eventually transformed into bonuses.

One nice aspect that really sets this online slot apart from its slots kin is its fantastic animation – the chocolate bar gets bites taken out of them, the jelly beans jump up and down wildly and that hothouse of a furnace not only expands but also lights up like a Christmas tree, fiery flames a-spurting. You can wager as much as ten coins per payline (200 coins maximum per spin), and coin range can be as little as 1 cent or as much as .25. The highest jackpot of twenty five hundred coins can therefore be as much as $6250 if you – er – play your cards right.

WOMEN’S WORLD OPEN IV
March 10, 2010

MatchSport / Party Poker once again come together to finally reveal the place / days for the Women’s World Open IV.

Place: London, UK

Dates: 23 and 24 March, 2010.

The exciting $3000 buy-in event with a decidely feminine bent will be made up of 24 women. The competition’s prize-pool is a very nice $72,000, and its final table will house 6 people.

Currently committed to the big match are Team PartyPoker.com’s Kara Scott together with the awe-inspiring Annette Obrestad. Women’s World Open III winner, Aisling Collins as well as that tourney’s 2nd place finisher, Kim Wooka, joins in the fray. Other confirmed poker pros include Laurence Grondin, Stefanie Bergener, Shelley Rubenstein, Christine Klecz, Maria Demetriou, Pippa Flanders as well as Women’s World II winner Soraya Homam.

The irony isn’t lost on this girl: Aisling Collins’ impressive performance last year garnered her a superstar fan in Annette Obrestrad, and in the 2010 event, fate is such that mentor is going to face off against mentee.

Nice.

As well, it’ll be fascinating to find out how she does against last year’s 2nd place finisher, Kim Wooka, who plainly has a lot to prove. With this year’s competition, we can anticipate a seriously stacked poker game filled with brutal competition.

Just the way I like it!
